PRIDE vs. PRAYER
A man's pride brings him low, but a man of lowly spirit gains honor.
Proverbs 29:23 NIV
I struggle with my foolish pride. To grow in humility, I need to pray daily
as Jesus taught his followers to pray (Matthew 6:9-13 KJV):
Our Father which art in heaven, |
[The Creator of the universe cares
for his people--He protects and provides for us! Thank you, LORD.]
| |
Hallowed be Thy name. |
[There is no one else who can be compared to you. Help me remember that today.] |
| |
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. |
[Too many of my prayers start with what I want. Teach me
to value my will less and yours much more.] |
| |
Give us this day our daily bread. |
[I need your supernatural help
to get through this day, and so do all my neighbors. Help us to remember
that.] |
| |
And
forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. |
[Your
forgiveness is my greatest daily need, and you grant it for the asking. May I be
just as generous with anyone who needs my forgiveness!] |
| |
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: |
[The evil one is real and he's gunning for each of us today. Unless your power
fills and surrounds me I will fail you. In your mercy, strengthen your people.] |
| |
For thine
is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. |
[It's all about you, LORD. May we all remember that.] |
